Roberto Clemente Bridge on Ice - Pittsburgh Pennsylvania

Last night was cold and I took advantage of it and got this photo of the Allegheny River in Pittsburgh. This is one of the first times I've seen the rivers freezing which is pretty neat. Prints are available for purchase. Please contact me for sizing, material, and pricing.

Monongahela Incline - Pittsburgh Pennsylvania

I had the chance to go out for a few hours this evening and get some photos of the city with the goal of not going to the typical North Shore, the overlooks, etc. I think this one fits the bill pretty nicely. The walk down from Mt. Washington was fraught with a very long and relatively steep walkway covered in ice. The view was pretty good.

Rachel Carson Bridge

I was saddened to hear that the art installation is being turned off April 8th. I was very happy to hear that the bridge is then going to be renovated (which I understand it needs quite badly). I'm really hoping they put the lights back up.

Friends Sitting by the Fountain - Point State Park, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania

I misplanned tonights shoot and missed the timing by a few minutes. So instead I improvised and got this shot instead. I think it came out pretty well. I really like the two people sitting on the edge of the fountain on the right side of the image.

Highway Entrance - Pittsburgh Pennsylvania

I've always liked how the entrance from 6th street onto the crosstown boulevard looked, especially at night with the skyline behind the road signs.

Looking Down Fifth Ave - Pittsburgh Pennsylvania

I was driving home a few nights ago and happened to look over just as we were passing by 5th Ave and saw this scene. I immediately knew I had to return to try to capture it. While there are some details I want to try and improve, I think this worked out pretty well. The bus just happened to pull up when I had the shutter open and at the time I though it would ruin the shot. I think it adds some really neat motion to the image that wouldn't be there otherwise.

Blue and Orange have always been my favorite color combination. The orange of the street lights and the blue of the sky illuminated by the city were just magical. Also, the depth compression between the foreground and background really makes this image interesting, at least in my opinion.

The City of Bridges

This is the classic view of downtown Pittsburgh. The Ohio River in the foreground that heads all the way to the Mississippi, the Allegheny on the left and the Monongahela on the right.

Pittsburgh from the North

Typically Pittsburgh is a city that is often photographed from the south or southwest where the confluence of the three rivers and Point State Park is visible. It's a fantastic view, but I was driving down to the city and realized that I was going to try and capture ANOTHER image of the SAME view with little or no changes to the technique. So I decided to try something a bit different.

Ice Skating at PPG Place - Pittsburgh Pennsylvania

I guess at this point its difficult to hold on to the notion that its still "practically Summer". Pittsburgh's "Light Up Night" was last night to mark the start of the holiday season and the ice rink at PPG Place was quite packed. I really like how the motion of the skaters is really apparent.
