Sunset and Thunderstorm - Pittsburgh Pennsylvania
A thunderstorm moved through the area tonight. From downtown the clouds were really wonderful with the sunset yellow and oranges and on the other side of the thunderclouds, a deep blue. Add in the Incline and the Gateway Clipper and the Point Fountain and I think this is just about the perfect photo of downtown.

Highmark is Blue - Front Line Health Workers
Over the last few years I've been downtown Pittsburgh at literally all hours of the day and night. The last time I was downtown in the middle of the night was after a trip to Japan when I was suffering from Jetlag. At 2 AM it was quiet, but there were a number of cars, people, etc.
This night was Saturday during the COVID pandemic at around midnight. Not. A. Soul. No cars. No buses, No people. The city was entirely empty. It was beautiful and silent, but eerie and unsettling.

I didn't know it, but there apparently is a time in which they (whoever THEY is) turn off the lights on the Smithfield Bridge. I was kind of disappointed when I got downtown to see that the lights were off. And as I set up for my shot and started the exposures, two busses came from behind and lit up the scene. It was wonderful.

The Moon and Venus were less than 2 degrees apart tonight. I wasn't able to make it downtown to frame it with some buildings, so I got this instead. The view was beautiful as it always is.
