Sunset and Thunderstorm - Pittsburgh Pennsylvania
A thunderstorm moved through the area tonight. From downtown the clouds were really wonderful with the sunset yellow and oranges and on the other side of the thunderclouds, a deep blue. Add in the Incline and the Gateway Clipper and the Point Fountain and I think this is just about the perfect photo of downtown.
Pittsburgh Across the River
The snow started falling hours before I could get downtown. The ice on the river had started to collect snow and the dawn had started. I had so many hopes for this morning and it seemed that few ideas panned out. In a last ditch effort to capture something before heading back to start my day.
It's a nearly magical experience to hit the shutter button, see the preview and realize instantly that you might have something unique and special.

Pittsburgh got hit with a significant snowstorm on Wednesday. I opted, however, to go at 3 AM Thursday into the city when it was empty and the snow had stopped. It was an incredible experience. The snow was gorgeous. I didn't see anyone else except for the occasional snow plot until almost 5 AM. The silence was fantastic.
